Call Before You Dig
Indiana law requires that you call the Indiana Underground Plant Protection Service at least two full business days before you start digging on your property. One call will allow all utilities in the area, including natural gas, to mark the location of their lines before you dig to prevent costly damage. Call them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at the national one-call number 811.
When you call, have the following information available.
- County
- Township
- Street address
- Type and extent of work
- Name and Title of Caller
- Start date and time
- Best and number to call back
- Contractor’s name, address and phone number
